Guangzhou's Baiyun district, located in the northwest part of the city, will undergo seven key projects in the near future, according to the local Trade and Economic Bureau and the Urban Planning Bureau. The seven projects include a shopping mall, a hotel, a wholesale market and a logistics park.

Project 1: Airstrip to become "Sky City"

The No. 5 airstrip of the abandoned Baiyun Airport will be the center of the Baiyun New City. With an area of 130 thousand square meters and an investment of 300 million yuan, the new construction will be a high-end "sky city" featuring shopping centers as well as places for leisure and tourism.

Project 2: Air conditioner factory to become 5-star hotel

Located on Guangyuan Zhong road, the old site of the state-owned Shengfeng Air Condition Factory, with an area of 28 thousand square meters, is to be converted into a 5-star hotel.

Project 3: Xin Bai Jia Business Town, the Yiwu of Guangzhou

Xin Bai Jia Business Town is set to become a wholesale market for small articles. It will become one of the city's export bases, resembling Yiwu in east China's Zhejiang province.

Project 4: Shoe factory to become Helong International Community

The Project of the Helong International Community is located at the crossing of the Jichang road and the No. 106 National Highway, formally known as the Changzheng Shoe Factory. The project will be divided into four parts, to include high-class business offices, a creative industry park, an apartment area and an integrated business area.

Project 6: Headquarters of Kaiser Clothing to move to GZ from Shantou City

Project 7: Baowan Logistics Park coming in 2011

The Baowan Logistics Park project, a modern integrative logistics park in Guangzhou, will be opened by the end of 2011. It will provide a sourcing and distribution center for many international enterprises in south China.
