The elderly in Guangzhou are increasing over the past few years. There are some 400 at present that are aged over 100, according to Yuexiu District Civil Affairs Bureau of Guangzhou.
This is over 100 more elderly than in 2003.
Downtown Yuexiu District has the largest senior citizen population of almost 100.
The total registered population in Guangzhou is about nine million now.
